Andrew Mason - State Award Recipient

Andrew Mason has been awarded a State Award from Football New South Wales in recognition of his dedication and support to our game since 2000 both locally and also at Branch and State levels.

A brief outline of Andrew's coaching history to date is detailed below.

1. Club Level

Took on U7 at Tolland FC (son’s team) mid-season in 2000 and coached them all the way through until Under 15s.
Coached both Mixed and All Girls teams (daughter’s team) from about 2007 till 2010.
Coached U6 Tolland FC (another son’s team) from 2005 onwards, still ongoing.
(Was coaching up to 4 junior teams at once at this level).
Also coached Henwood Park FC AA Men’s First and Reserve Grade teams repeatedly, sometimes as assistant coach.

2. Wagga Representative Level
Began representative coaching in 2006, (ongoing to date).
Has coached both Boys and Girls representative teams, sometimes concurrently.

3. Riverina Representative Level
Coached under 12, Under 13 and Under 14 Girls Riverina teams, 2007 – 2010.
Currently coaching Under 14 Girls for the second successive year.
Most successful Riverina tournaments: Country Champions 2009 and 2010.

4. State Level (Football NSW)
Assistant Coach to Country NSW under 13 Girls 2010 and 2011.

In a one-year period, Andrew coached 4 junior club teams, 2 senior club teams, 1 Wagga Representative team, 1 Riverina Representative team and 1 Country NSW team.

Through Andrews self development he currently holds Junior, Youth and Senior Football coaching licences and has registered to complete FFA C licence course in Canberra later this year.

Andrew worked closely with the previous FNSW Riverina Coaching Officer and as the region no longer has the benefit of a regional coach Andrew conducts each Friday as head coach for Football Riverina, the state training centre and Project 22 (now SAP) programs.

Andrew mentors coaches for the future and runs a Monday night training centre for Football Wagga Wagga Representative Players.

Andrew has also been involved with conducting coaching courses and instigating goalkeeper coaching at both his weekly training centres.

Andrew graciously took on the roles of coach co-ordinator this year for Football Riverina and Football Riverina so our regional and local coaches were supported and kept up to date and did not loose momentum with current up to date sessions while not having a regional coach in place.

Andrew works full time and has a family to spend time with as well, but without his dedication over the past 11 years and time he gives to coaching players at club level, coaches and players for both Football Wagga Wagga and Football Riverina we would not reap the benefits he is giving on a weekly basis to our members.
